Extra or Reserved: We Love Both
Give yourself freedom and permission to be authentically you! Some people are more expressive and demonstrative in their communication, while others are more quiet and reserved. The world needs both!
There is strength in "extra" just as their is strength is "reservation." Both are celebrated and both are beautiful! No one gets to define how you express yourself, the only person who should define that is YOU!
There was a time when people (particularly family and friends) would call me extra, and I would get offended. Eventually after lots of therapy and inner exploration, I found that "extra" is not a dirty word. The long and short of it is, I may not be for everyone and that is perfectly fine. I had to come to terms with the fact that people who genuinely love me and are for me would not only accept, but also APPRECIATE, me for me just as I am...with my extra self. Am I extra...heck to the yes! Now I offer not one apology for it. I've found strength in my extrocity (look the word up it's in the urban dictionary LOL). I had to first love me for me, and give myself permission to be me. I used to wish I could be more quiet and not so strong willed...I tried and each time failed miserably because that is just not me.
I have a beautiful Aunt, and if there was a poster child for "extra to the extreme" she would be it. My dear, sweet Aunt is one of the most loving, loyal, and beautiful people I am blessed to have in my life. My oldest son, on the other hand, is way more quiet and reserved. I love both of them deeply and they have completely opposite personalities. I found freedom and release in cherishing myself and those around me for who they are. It is my heart's prayer you cherish you and those you love with gratitude and appreciation for our differences.
May you continually fall in love with yourself and those around you a little more each day!
